This is just a small sampling of helpful resources. Enjoy!

Daily Life

Using all of these tools, one will make progress. This does not have to be done in a 12 step program. There are many locations where a strong 12 step group in unavailable; there are internet meetings and phone meetings. One can practice using these tools within one's church or sangha participation. Remember this sense of community (attending meetings) is only one of the tools--all of the tools must be used in order to truly diminish the affect of the egoic identification in daily life and begin to taste the freedom of truth.

Here you can check for 12 step groups that are appropriate for your well being, skillful learning and friendship.

The 7 tools in the 12 step program are:

  1. 1. Attend Meetings, (retreats or dharma talks) allow your willingness to grow within your own faith.
  2. 2. Use the phone/internet and connect with wise individuals whenever possible.
  3. 3. Study: read books, articles, listen to talks that are helpful.
  4. 4. Meditation: sit in stillness; find a method that you can work with regularly.
  5. 5. Write about your process and do some journaling for moral clarity.
  6. 6. Find a sponsor or teacher that inspires you and work with that person closely.
  7. 7. Service: can be as simple as helping to set up chairs, or working on service boards. This is also a form of dana, and being generous whenever possible is very important.
